Jakarta, July 29, 2026 - The Ministry of Health (MoH) Indonesia through the Center for Data and Information Technology - Health Transformation and Digitalization Team (Pusdatin-TTDK), has completed the final assessment and evaluation session for participants of the Sandbox Kesehatan (Health Sandbox) under the Innovation Development testing scheme on July 27-28, 2026.

This year’s Sandbox Kesehatan program has been running since 2025, with the entire series targeted to conclude in September 2026. The Innovation Development scheme specifically focuses on health technology innovations that are still in the prototype phase. Through this session, MoH Indonesia aims to elevate the technology readiness level of the innovations developed by participants, making the final solutions highly feasible to use and beneficial to the general public.

This evaluation session assessed 11 participants who successfully completed the proposal submission and piloting stages under the guidance of Pijar Foundation as the implementing partner. These eleven participants consist of Curalis, Jagahealth, RespiraHub, Kibicare, Satusehat Connect, Serenic, Health Beta, Onward, Aurelif, Fellas, and Temucita.

This process involved three evaluation teams: the Technical Unit of the MoH Indonesia, which evaluated the alignment of each participants’ solution with field data and needs; the Sandbox Kesehatan expert panel, comprising professionals in technology and AI; and Pijar Foundation, which assessed business development aspects.

Among the submitted proposals, the innovation trends brought forward by this year's participants were highly diverse, with the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) emerging as a dominant theme. Proposed innovations included genetic tests that provided AI-based lifestyle recommendations, as well as voice-to-text technology for Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems capable of automatically converting physician-patient conversations into medical summaries.

The final session evaluation was conducted through interviews and quantitative scoring across three main aspects: the innovation's integration capability with SATUSEHAT, availability and readiness of the innovation, and the level of public acceptance.Innovations that pass the assessment will receive “Recommended” status and be featured in the directory on the MoH Indonesia Sandbox Kesehatan website.

"This final assessment session is part of the Sandbox Kesehatan development roadmap for the Innovation Development scheme, directed toward strengthening collaboration with ministries, agencies, and other stakeholders," said Rudy Kurniawan, Head of the Health Innovation and Financing Working Team at the Center for Data and Information Technology, MoH Indonesia.

Unlike previous implementations of the Sandbox Kesehatan, this year's mentoring and piloting programs were conducted at different stages within the program series. This evaluation activity serves as the final part of the mentoring process under the Innovation Development scheme.

Sandbox Kesehatan: The History and Its Development

Sandbox Kesehatan is an innovation acceleration program in the health sector that provides a range of testing schemes, mentoring, and recommendations for various digital health solutions. The program stems from the MoH Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining a balance between promoting innovation and safeguarding access, quality, and service safety for the public.

Held since 2021, this year's Sandbox Kesehatan features three main testing schemes. In addition to the Innovation Development scheme, there are also the Innovation Utilization Expansion scheme and the Innovation-Based Policy Development scheme, which are tailored for participants with higher levels of maturity (technology and/or business).

Following the completion of the final evaluation for the Innovation Development scheme, the next step in the Sandbox Kesehatan series is the final evaluation for participants under the Innovation Utilization Expansion scheme, taking place on August 11-12, 2026.

Unlike the Innovation Development scheme, the Innovation Utilization Expansion scheme evaluates five participants across three primary assessment criteria: innovation readiness and solution resilience, scalability, and sustainability to deliver medium to long-term benefits.

Previously, the Ministry of Health RI also conducted final evaluation sessions for 9 participants under the Innovation-Based Policy Development scheme. The scenario testing and live testing sessions on July 21-22, 2026 evaluated accessibility, availability, acceptance, and quality of innovation. This entire testing process runs alongside a mentoring program whose benefits are directly experienced by the participants.

Through the Sandbox Kesehatan, the MoH Indonesia hopes that an increasing number of safe, beneficial digital health innovations integrated with SATUSEHAT can develop until they are ready for widespread adoption. The program is also expected to strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration in driving sustainable digital health transformation in Indonesia.
